Update to Socialfly Reminders

Friday, February 27th, 2009

We’ve just updated Socialfly’s reminder system, making it more like a traditional to-do list. Reminders now have 3 actions possible – Talked, snooze, and remove.

  • Talked records the last time you talked to that person.
  • Snooze delays the reminder.
  • Remove deletes the reminder but does not update the last talked time.

Smart reminders

A core philosophy behind Socialfly is to reduce the ‘social noise’ in your life, helping you focus on who matters most. That’s why our reminder system uses some smarts to give you the people who matter most – even if you haven’t logged in for a while.

Each day we calculate your 5 most important reminders. These are based on the friend priority you set (from 1 to 5 stars), plus how many days overdue they are. Any additional reminders you have outstanding are put in an ‘additional’ category. Thus, a reminder to keep up with a low priority friend won’t ever bump that really important friend that you still haven’t contacted.

Whats the point of ‘talked’?

We’ve added the ‘talked’ data type so you can remember the last time you kept up with all your friends. As always, Socialfly lets you view data across friends, so you can prioritize. Just go to the Friend List and sort by Last Talked!

One more thing…

We’ve also added the Next Notice column in the Friend List, so you know what reminders are coming up. This has been an oft-requested feature!

We hope you like the update! The entire Socialfly team is working hard on our iPhone application, which should be ready in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned,
Nick
